Chinese New Year: Celebrate The Right Way
Chinese food is eaten on a daily basis. With the Chinese New Year, many are probably saying “who cares, I don’t celebrate it.” Who cares if you don’t celebrate it, but would it be fun to make food that are eaten during this holiday?
This article will show you how:
The Chinese dumpling, a classic.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon margarine
1/2 cup milk
Directions
Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in medium size bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in milk to make a soft dough.
Drop by spoonfuls into boiling stew. Cover and simmer 15 minutes without lifting lid. Serve.
To make parsley dumplings, add 1 tablespoon parsley flakes to the dry ingredients.
Fun Fact:Chinese dumplings are eaten on the 5th day of new year in China to resemble good wealth and prosperity.
